CALGARY – The 2014 AESC Award for Excellence and Professionalism in Research was awarded last week to Heather Fookes, Director of Research at Davies Park Executive Search for demonstrating the highest standards of research, and representing herself and the firm in an ethical manner at all times.
The award was presented to Heather at AESC’s Researchers & Associates Summit in New York City by Brian J. Glade, Managing Director, Global Strategy and the Americas and Allan Nelson, Partner at Davies Park Executive Search.
“In considering Heather Fookes for the 2014 AESC Researcher Award, the Nominating Committee was impressed with her “fearless” approach to conquering new concepts and methods, including the latest social media platforms,” Brian said.
“Leveraging her education in library science, she is able to generate a viable list of candidates and sources in a short period of time. Equally important to the Nominating Committee was the fact that Heather has devoted herself to ongoing professional learning and was the first to achieve AESC Researcher Certification in her firm. Subsequently, she persuaded the entire team to undertake the program.”
Heather was chosen from among AESC’s 350 member companies’ pool of 16,000 researchers, consultants and associates as the executive search professional who demonstrates the highest standards of research, while representing herself and her firm in an ethical manner at all times. AESC’s member firms employ more than 8,000 search professionals in 1,000 offices and in 74 countries. It is estimated that AESC member firms handle some 70,000 senior executive searches every year.
“It’s a privilege to be recognized by both my colleagues and a global Association of this caliber. I enjoy the diversity and challenge of executive search and to be singled out with such a prestigious award is a great honour. Thank you to my colleagues and the association for this commendation.”
Heather has worked in executive search since 2007 and recently led the Calgary team in becoming certified through the AESC as CRAs (Certified Researcher/Associate). In her current role as Director of Research, she leads the Calgary research team at Davies Park Executive Search with clear and concise direction, is a valued mentor and dedicated to providing the best candidates for the clients. Prior to joining the firm, she received her Master of Library and Information Studies degree and worked in various technical roles in the post-secondary sector.
“We are proud of Heather’s efforts and leadership she has taken on to ensure that all Calgary-based staff are educated in the AESC research practices,” said Mike Kerr, Partner at Davies Park. “The award is a testament to the quality of research provided by Davies Park.”
