The Opportunity

As the chief executive of the City, the City Manager is appointed by Council to manage and direct the overall operations of the City, subject to legislative provision and the direction of Council and is primarily responsible for carrying out the goals and objectives of City Council.

The City Manager provides leadership and direction to the City administration and provides advice to Council in implementing its strategic priorities. Using a broad scope of knowledge, the City Manager deals with highly complex issues within the public sector, including strategic planning, finance, budgeting, accountability, and public policy development, and is responsible for the implementation of strategic and corporate goals, senior level communication, and negotiating.
